Umut Azak is a political scientist. Her research focuses on Islamism and secularism in Turkey. Currently, she is a Fellow of the 'Europe in the Middle East - the Middle East in Europe' research program in Berlin.
Esra Özyürek is an anthropologist. Her academic interests include secularism and Islam in Turkey and Europe. She is an associate professor at the Department of Anthropology of the University of California, San Diego (USA).
