Privacy Policy
The Forum Transregionale Studien e.V., Wallotstraße 14, 14193 Berlin (the “Forum” or “we”) operates the website, which is accessible under https://www.eume-berlin.de/ and its subdomains (the “site”). In this privacy policy, we wish to inform you about any processing of personal data when you browse on or use the features and functions of our site. With this privacy policy we also fulfil our obligation to inform data subjects pursuant to the General “Data Protection Regulation” and the Federal Data Privacy Law (the Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, “BDSG”).
Visitors’ personal data are collected and processed solely to the extent described in this data protection declaration.
Web Analytics
We use the open source tool Matomo to statistically evaluate the use of the website. With the help of cookies and JavaScript, Matomo collects various information from your computer and transfers it to the web server of the Forum. The data collected are:
— IP address, abbreviated for anonymity
— Two Matomo cookies to distinguish different visitors
— URLs previously visited, if they are linked to us
— Name and version of the operating system
— Name, version, and language setting of the browser
The result of the statistical evaluation of these data is anonymous. The Forum does not use the IP addresses to identify visitors.

Cookies
When you visit the Forum’s website, we will store small text files called cookies on your device.
We use cookies to make your visit on our site more enjoyable and to provide you with certain functions. The web analysis service we use, Matomo (see above), also stores cookies on your device; they are deleted when you terminate your browser session. The external services we use that place cookies in your browser are SoundCloud, Youtube, Vimeo, and OpenStreetMap.

Which data are collected and for what purpose?
Avoiding and solving technical problems
When you visit our site, your browser automatically sends information to the Forum’s web server. This information is saved in a log file, stored there for a period of 2 months, and then deleted. We process this information to ensure a steady and reliable connection between you and our site and to solve any technical problems. The data involved are:
- Your IP address
- Date and time of the visit
- Kind and version of the browser
- Operating system
- URL of the websites visited earlier, if they are linked to us
- Requested domain/resource
- Domain name of the requesting Internet service provider
- Report of successful data access
- Search term if a search machine is used
The aforementioned purposes also constitute the legitimate interests we pursue with processing the data (Art. 6 par. 1 lit. f) GDPR).
Newsletter
On our website, there is an option to subscribe to a newsletter free of charge. When registering for the newsletter, data from the data entry form are transmitted to us. These are generally your email address, family name and first name. We inform you about the specific processing of the data and we obtain your consent as part of the registration procedure. Reference is also made to this data-protection statement. The data are utilized exclusively to send the newsletter.
The legal basis for the processing of data after registration for the newsletter by the user is the user's consent pursuant to Article 6 (1) lit. a GDPR. The gathering of data serves to deliver the newsletter. The data are deleted as soon as they are no longer required for the purpose for which they were gathered. Accordingly, the user's email address is stored for as long as the newsletter subscription is active. The respective user can terminate the newsletter subscription at any time.
Vimeo
To play videos on the Forum’s website, the Forum uses services of the video streaming service Vimeo Inc., 555 West 18th Street New York, New York 10011. You may recognize such embedded videos by the Vimeo logo on our page. When you access such a page with an embedded video, Vimeo establishes a connection between your device and its servers. Additionally, Vimeo will store cookies on your device, which are required to provide you with the functions of Vimeo’s video player. The Forum has no influence on these connections and the further processing of your data by Vimeo Inc. If and insofar as personal data is processed, the legal grounds for such processing is our legitimate interest in providing you with the functions of the Vimeo player and to include videos on our Site (Art. 6 par. 1 lit. f) GDPR). Vimeo processes personal data in the US, hence, in a third country outside of the EU. However, an adequate level of protection is ensured since Vimeo is certified under the EU-US-Privacy Shield https://www.privacyshield.gov/.
Youtube
To play videos on the Forum’s website, the Forum uses services of the video streaming service Youtube (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). You may recognize such embedded videos by the Youtube logo on our page. When you access such a page with an embedded video, Google establishes a connection between your device and its servers. The Forum has no influence on these connections and the further processing of your data by Google. To show you the map, your browser establishes a connection with the OSMF’s servers. The Forum has no influence on these connections or on the further processing of your data by the OSMF. If and insofar as personal data is processed for providing you with such services, it has its legal grounds in Art. 6 par. 1 lit. f) GDPR. The legitimate interest we pursue with such processing is providing you with an easy to use map service on our site. Data security
To ensure that your data is processed in a secure way during transmission, we use encryption in accordance with the state of the technology, including SSL (Secure Socket Layer).
We implement technical and organizational measures to secure our Site and other systems against the loss, destruction, access, alteration, or dissemination of your data by unauthorized persons.
Providing data to third parties
We do not transfer personal data to third parties in a non-compliant way.
The website of the Forum and the web analysis service Matomo, and all other connected systems are hosted on the Forum’s servers. In certain cases we may use the help of external service providers (especially technical service providers).

Your personal data will only be conveyed to state institutions and authorities in legally essential cases or for criminal prosecution based on attacks on our network infrastructure. The data are not transmitted to third parties for other purposes.
Obligation to provide personal data and automated decision making pursuant to Art. 22 GDPR
There is no no statutory or contractual requirement for you to provide us with personal data. However, without any data we may not be able to provide yout with our services. We do not use automated decision-making, including profiling, referred to in Article 22(1) and (4) GDPR.
