Memory and Revolution

“Memory and Revolution” was the title of a series of Arabic film screenings, which was organized in cooperation with Mayadin Al-Tahrir e.V. and Europe in the Middle East—The Middle East in Europe(EUME). The films were screened on October 8, 15 and 22, 7pm, at the Werkstatt der Kulturen, and followed by a discussion.

Wednesday, 8 October 2014: “Cursed be the Phosphate”
Director: Sami Tlili, Tunesia 2012, original with subtitles
Discussion with Viola Shafik (Cairo/Berlin) and Leyla Dakhli (Centre Marc Bloch, Berlin).

Wednesday, 15 October 2014: “Jews of Egypt”
Director: Amir Ramses, Egypt, 2013, original with subtitles
Disussion with Georges Khalil (Program Coordinator EUME) and Najat Abdulhaq (Berlin)
The film screening and the discussion is the first EUME Berliner Seminar in the winter term 2014/2015. 

Wednesday, 22 October 2014: “ARIJ – Scent of Revolution”
Director: Viola Shafik, Egypt, 2014
Discussion with Viola Shafik (Cairo/Berlin) and Mohamed Elshahed (Art Histories Fellow 2014/15).

The films will start at 7 pm, admission is free.
