From April 2020 to January 2022, the Koblenz Higher Regional Court tried two former officials of the Syrian secret service apparatus. It was the world’s first trial of Syrian state torture. This anthology provides insights into the Koblenz trial. It offers historical and social contextualization, but it also looks at the theory and practice of international criminal law. In particular, voices from the Syrian diaspora have their say.
