On June 22, 2017 Hilal Alkan (EUME Fellow 2016/17) received the “Voltaire Prize for Tolerance, International Understanding and Respect for Difference” at Potsdam University. The prize is dedicated to emerging scholars who are engaged for academic and civic freedom. Hilal Alkan belongs to a group of scholars from Turkey who signed the petition of the “Academics for Peace”, and was among the first who subsequently lost her position. The price will be handed over in the presence of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Press release (German)
