Europe in the Middle East – the Middle East in Europe
 (EUME) is a multi-disciplinary research program at the Berlin-based Forum Transregionale Studien. EUME seeks to rethink key concepts and premises that link and divide Europe and the Middle East.Within the framework of five research fields in the disciplines of Literature, Political Philosophy, Urban History, Philology-cum-Late Antiquity, and Islamic Studies, the program attempts to recollect the legacies of Europe in the Middle East and of the Middle East in Europe in an inclusive way that aims to do justice to their entanglements. Call for Applications: International Summer Academy 

Under the theme »Reconfiguring the (Non-)Political. Performing and Narrating Change and Continuity«, an international Summer Academy will be convened from 28 August - 4 September 2016 in Tunis. It addresses doctoral and postdoctoral scholars and is part of a cooperation between the research units »Re-Configurations. History, Remembrance and Transformation Processes in the Middle East and North Africa« and »Figures of Thought | Turning Points. Cultural Practices and Social Change in the Arab World«, based at Philipps University Marburg's Center for Near and Middle East Studies, l'Université de la Manouba (UMA), l’Institut de Recherche sur le Maghreb Contemporain (IRMC), both based in Tunis, and the research program Europe in the Middle East — The Middle East in Europe (EUME). Berliner Seminar WS 15/16

The Berliner Seminar of the research program Europe in the Middle East — The Middle East in Europe (EUME) will be starting under the theme »Conflict and Translation« in the winter term 2015/16. Addressed will be issues such as Violence in Istanbul's Kurdish and Alevi Neigbourhoods, Revolution and Violence in Eastern Europe and the Arab World as well as Translating Critical Theory, Political Practice and the Question of Culture.
