Passionate Politics in the Aftermath of the 'Egyptian Revolution': Salafi and Revolutionary Mobilization in the 2012 Presidential Elections

During her EUME fellowship, Sobhy will be investigating mobilization by pro-“Revolution” and Salafi forces in the 2012 Egyptian presidential elections. Based on fieldwork during the elections and various secondary sources, she will be exploring the use of religious themes, the mobilization of political emotions and the navigation of class boundaries in campaigning efforts and expressed voting decisions.
