EUME Lecture

The fellowship program is the central instrument of EUME, the network of fellows constitutes its richness. Since 1997 over 120 young scholars from North Africa, the Middle East, West and South Asia, the USA and other regions have been Fellows in the framework of EUME and its preceding project, the Working Group “Modernity and Islam” (AKMI). The EUME Lecture invites, once a year, a former fellow to present a central argument of a major work he or she published as a result from his or her fellowship to a broader public.

The first EUME Lecture will be delivered on 29 May 2012 by Shaden M. Tageldin (University of Minnesota / EUME-Fellow 2006/07) on “Empire, Nation, and the Seductions of Translation in Egypt- Afterwords to the Revolutions of 1919/2011.”
